Angelakis Bros. Founded in 1960, a family owned and Australian operated business with 4 generations of knowledge. Continuing family traditions and recipes to this day, Angelakis Bros. are famous for bringing the finest seafood, poultry and game to your table.
Michael George Angelakis came to Australia from his home in the Greek island of Symi in the Aegan Sea famous for its sponge divers, as a migrant in the 1920’s.
From humblest of beginnings using a borrowed dingy, fishing the waters in the Great Australian Bight off Thevenard, he began what grew into a leading Australian enterprise.
The next generation, sons George and Nick and brother-in-law Sam Sperou founded Angelakis Bros as a formal entity. The 3rd generation —Tom and Michael N Angelakis, Peter and Michael Sperou operated the day to day management of the business until May 2018, when Barossa Fine Foods acquired the company.
Angelakis Bros is an Australian family owned and operated company and is dedicated to delivering only the finest seafood, poultry and game. As importers, retailers and wholesalers, Angelakis Bros. has a national and international reach. We maintain a reputation for quality and consistency, and our products and services are certain to impress.
Our efforts to raise the level of processing and service in South Australia have seen us win many industry awards. Such awards include: Restaurant and Catering Association Award for best supplier to the hospitality industry, Premiers Food and Fibre Award and the South Australia Fishing Industry Award for leading seafood processors.
The high standards we strive to achieve have seen us become preferred suppliers to many groups and major caterers both in wholesale and retail within Australia. We also have three retail outlets at Central Market Arcade, Stirling Shopping Centre and Burnside Village which allow us to offer a huge variety of fine seafood, poultry and game to the community.
In May 2018, The Knoll Family purchased the iconic South Australia business to add to their impressive collections of brands including Barossa Fine Foods, Standom Smallgoods and Schulz Butchers. After operating their own family business since 1991 they understand the importance of family traditions and knowledge.
In 2020 the Angelakis Bros seafood factory and offices have recently moved to
co-locate with Barossa Fine Foods in a new state of the art seafood processing facility at Edinburgh North.
