Red Emperor: Spicy with Yoghurt

You Need: (Serves 4)

  • 1.5kg clean whole red emperor without head
  • 2 large onions
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1/2 cup natural yoghurt
  • 2 teaspoons hot English mustard
  • 1 teaspoon garam masala powder
  • 1 teaspoon cumin powder
  • 1 teaspoon coriander powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt



Place onions, garlic and ginger in blender and blend until smooth. Mix in yoghurt, mustard, spices and salt and use as a marinade for the fish.

Marinate in fridge for a minimum of 4 hours or overnight.

Grease pan thoroughly and grill fish under preheated medium griller for 5-8 minutes on each side.

When cooked, fish should be soft inside and brown on top.

Serve with salad or vegetables and rice.
